UAE residents can now get their Emirates ID within 24 hours thanks to an emergency service provided by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
According to information posted on the official UAE government portal, the service, titled “Fawri”, is available to UAE nationals and GCC nationals officially residing in the UAE, of all ages, and can be availed through the following:
However, expats who are not GCC nationals are only entitled to emergency services in the case of replacement of identity documents.
This is because “the issuance or renewal of this category of identity document is linked to proof of residence and related procedures,” the website states.
To avail Fawri services, residents can visit any of the Customer Happiness Centres listed below without prior notice and present the required documentation.

To get your Emirates ID within 24 hours, you will need to pay an “urgent services” fee on top of the regular prescribed fee.
According to the ICP website, this is the cost of obtaining an Emirates ID for “emergency services”.

The introduction of the Fawri service is a welcome development for UAE residents who are in urgent need of their Emirates ID cards, especially if their cards have been lost, stolen or damaged.
