To the Editor:
After working two consecutive weeks on Blues, Views and BBQ and Slice of Saugatuck, and organizing our first ever Dog Festival earlier in the summer, I want to express my gratitude to the employees and department heads who keep the Town of Westport running.
An event of this magnitude could not have been made possible without the cooperation of the Town. From road barricades and infrastructure provided by Steve Edwards and the Public Works Department, to beautiful fields and logistical support provided by Jen Fava and the Parks and Recreation Department, to security provided by Foti Koskinas and the Police Department and the new parking that just opened in Saugatuck, to expedited health permitting provided by Mark Cooper and the Health Department, to weather analysis, safety tips and assistance provided by Andrew Kingsbury and the Fire Department, it is the attention to detail and willingness to work together that makes things happen.
They and their staff are the driving force behind the scenes to ensure we all have a fun and safe time.
Although most of them do not live in Westport, they care about the town and us as if they lived there. They treat us like neighbors and I am truly grateful for their time and effort.

Secretary, Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce

Benny has a new home! He is a 1.5 year old Yorkshire terrier who was left behind when a Connecticut resident moved. He is a wonderful puppy who is gentle with children and adults. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He was recently neutered, had a vet check, and is due for a grooming this week. Please email us. RUBY has been adopted. She is a sweet, gentle 1 year old Bulldog mix who gets along great with adults, children, dogs and cats and is an absolute sweetie. We will never understand the thoughts that led to giving up this gem of a dog but are so happy she has been safely adopted to her new home. A female driver lost control of her vehicle on Easton Road in Westport today, causing a fire hydrant in front of the Corrytown Fire Station (61 Easton Road) to break off and crash through woods and a guardrail fence into a neighbor’s backyard at 55 Easton Road. The front of the vehicle was crushed and the airbags deployed. The woman said she was OK except for a few scratches and declined transport to the hospital.
