The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Cyberabad has arrested two officials of the Software Engineers Employees Housing Welfare Association (SEEHWA) on charges of cheating and breach of trust.
Chairman Gujri Ashok Rao and general secretary Uday Kumar Chaba were arrested for illegally mortgaging SEEHWA land to Chairman Gujri Ashok Rao without the consent of other members of the society and cheating the members of the society.
SEEHWA was formed by a group of software company employees and has its registered office at a clubhouse in Indus Crest, Sangareddy. Police said the members subsequently purchased six acres of land and an adjoining five acres, on which they constructed 240 apartments and 15 villas and handed them over to the members in 2016.
According to police, on April 16, 2024, one of the members obtained a mortgage certificate for the land and it was found that the two accused had mortgaged properties worth Rs 750 crore for Rs 150 crore without the consent of the other members.
