OMAHA, Nebraska (KTRK) — Texas AThe &M Aggies are two wins away from winning the Men’s College World Series, a title held by their rival Texas Longhorns six times.
On Wednesday, the Aggies recorded a commanding 3-0 victory on their own side of the MCWS bracket, defeating the Florida Gators 6-0.
The Aggies beat the Gators last Saturday and the Kentucky Wildcats on Monday and will face Florida again in the double-elimination tournament.
Florida entered the matchup on Wednesday night after playing Kentucky earlier in the day. The teams were scheduled to play the night before, but weather postponed the consolation game until Wednesday afternoon.
With this win, Texas A.&M’s fourth and final matchup against Southeastern Conference rivals the Tennessee Volunteers, this time battling for the national championship in the MCWS finals.
The first game of the best-of-three series will be played on Saturday at 6:30 pm CST and will be broadcast on ABC13’s sister network, ESPN.
Game 2 will be the championship or elimination game for the Aggies and will air on ABC13 at 1pm Sunday.
If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 will be broadcast on ESPN on Monday, June 24 at 6pm.
The 2024 tournament will mark the Aggies’ eighth trip to the MCWS. They have never reached the finals before.
Texas A&M has played Tennessee once this season, on May 23 in the SEC Tournament, losing 7-4.
