To make it easier to bring home a new family member, the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter has announced a “Summer Love” pet adoption special. With so many adoptable animals at the shelter, the “Summer Love” special is aimed at helping as many pets as possible find a caring home.
All pets are available for adoption at half the regular adoption fee through Sunday, June 30. The reduced adoption fee includes a comprehensive preparation care package, including spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, flea and tick prevention services, microchip for permanent identification and registration for dogs living in Santa Cruz County.
“Our animal shelter remains full to capacity, with pets of all ages and personalities. Amazingly, we have dozens of pets waiting more than a month to find a new home,” said Amber Rowland, general manager of the animal shelter. “We hope this campaign will encourage families to open their hearts and homes and give pets a chance at love in a new home.”
Research shows that pets help increase exercise, make animals feel wanted and valued, and improve their overall health. Interested individuals can visit the shelter at 1001 Rodriguez St. in Santa Cruz daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or browse adoptable pets online at scanimalshelter.gov.
