JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has plenty of pets available for adoption.
Here are two of them.
Rufus is a Catahoula Leopard Dog, which isn’t all that common in Michigan, but he came all the way down south to find his perfect home here.
He is only 3 years old, house trained and neutered. Rufus will greet you with a wag of his tail. Catahoulas are very intelligent and easy to train.
They are loyal family dogs that you and your children will love to take with you on outdoor activities. They are bred to be beloved companions and working dogs for families, farmers and hunters. If you love his striking color, easy-to-groom smooth fur and lively attitude, he’ll be your favorite. He has soft brown eyes and a big heart.
Sushi is a 2 year old short hair cat that is completely black with a small white spot on her chest. She’s a tiny girl weighing just 7 lbs.
Sushi had a litter of kittens, all of which were grown and adopted and are now looking for a forever home. This cat is one of the most friendly cats at the shelter and will come up to you and ask for your company (and treats).
Sushi gets along well with other cats and doesn’t seem to get upset too much.
Adoption fees for one cat are $60 and for two cats $80, which includes applicable testing, vaccinations and spay/neuter.
While visiting the shelter is always best, other adoption resources include applying online at https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animals , faxing to 517-780-4750, or emailing animalshelter@mijackson.org .
