PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Eric Hecker of Irwin collects baseball cards. He even gives them away for free.
Hecker is a true sports enthusiast, collecting everything from cards to jerseys to baseballs to posters. He is also the Senior Executive Director of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, where he is passionate about raising money to find and provide treatments to patients during a pandemic when fundraising becomes difficult. I stood up holding it. better quality of life.
Donors send him cards and memorabilia. Participants “purchase” a team, and when Eric opens the box while he’s live on YouTube, participants win an item representing that team. This is called a “break” and the first break was facilitated with the help of Rippin’ Her Gypsy Couple Collector’s team.
Eric will be hosting another event on May 18th with proceeds going to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. His efforts had a great impact on the organization.
“The reason for that is just the community that’s built through this. I have a group of 17 people across the country who help me with this every month. It’s a lot of fun, and I think that gives it credibility. I think that’s the work we’re doing,” Hecker said.
He also takes to X, formerly known as Twitter, to perform “RAKs,” or random acts of kindness, every day. Since January 2021, he hasn’t missed a single day of his life. Followers can nominate community champions and unsung heroes for good deeds in the community. Winners will receive prizes.
“What we all want is a sense of community and belonging,” he said.
