STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – UrgentVet, a nationally known pet care clinic known for its after-hours convenience and affordable prices, has announced it will open its first New York City location this winter. The walk-in style treatment facility will be located in Staten Island.
“UrgentVet’s goal is to be a bridge between pet owners’ regular veterinarians and after-hours veterinary emergency rooms,” a spokesperson said in an email. “We treat non-life-threatening emergencies, so we see any condition that might require a last-minute veterinary appointment, like itchy ears, ingesting toxic substances, vomiting, diarrhea, or anything else. [also] We offer in-house diagnostics such as x-rays, ultrasounds and blood tests.”
Banner signs for the clinic are already up and the clinic will be located in the Taisens Park Shopping Center in Oakwood. The company said the clinic will be open seven days a week, from 3pm to 11pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm on weekends. Staff will be on-site from 12pm to 8pm on holidays.
“The groundbreaking concept offers a new solution that bridges the gap between general practice and 24-hour emergency veterinary care,” UrgentVet said in a press release. “Open evenings, weekends and holidays, their clinics offer treatment for minor illnesses and injuries for pets at rates that are significantly more affordable than comparable services at emergency pet hospitals. The model is similar to the walk-in care people receive when their family doctor is unavailable and their symptoms don’t warrant a trip to the emergency department.”
UrgentVet has more than 70 locations in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, with one additional New York location on Long Island.
Each UrgentVet location has exam rooms by pet type and size that are purposefully equipped with non-slip flooring, dimmable lighting, soothing colors, quiet music and quiet exam tables to ensure a fearless experience for your pet. Clinic treatment areas also feature an in-house lab with digital x-ray and ultrasound technology.
“UrgentVet aims to build strong relationships with nearby primary care veterinarians, a commitment that clinic staff have already demonstrated in the New York area,” the press release concluded. “Approximately 90 percent of pets seen at UrgentVet are treated on-site and referred to their primary care veterinarian with detailed letters and records for follow-up care.”
