Kerri Chandler has made parts of the track “Get It Off,” from her 1990 debut album, Super Lover, available to download for the next 24 hours.
The song was written at a time when Chandler was struggling to come to terms with the rape and murder of his then-girlfriend, Tracy.
He recently discovered the original files and master tapes while working on his Dolby Labs, Circus, Ministry of Sound projects, due for release next month, and has uploaded them to WeTransfer for fans to get hold of.
The legendary New Jersey producer wrote about what motivated his decision on Facebook, revealing, “It just so happened to be Valentine’s Day. Not a year goes by that I don’t think about Tracy and what it would have been like if she were alive today.”
“In her honor, I posted a link to a multi-track of ‘Get It Off’ for 24 hours, showcasing how I wrote the song from the mind of a hurt and frustrated 18-year-old trying to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. The title is a contraction of ‘Get it Off Of My Mind.'”
“I hope I inspire you all as much as Tracy and the House Music family have done for me. Thank you all for your love and support.”
