A legal dispute between singer Cassie and music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs alleging abuse has been resolved, the parties announced Friday, a day after the lawsuit was filed.
Their settlement was confirmed by attorney Douglas Wigdor, who represents Kathy, also known as Cassandra Ventura, who said Friday night they had reached a satisfactory agreement. However, terms were not disclosed, and Ventura, Combs and Wigdor did not make any statements beyond what they provided in an email from their attorneys.
In a statement, Ventura expressed his gratitude for the support of his family, fans, and lawyers, and expressed his determination to reach an amicable settlement.
Mr. Combs also addressed the resolution, wished Kathy and her family well, and expressed hope for an amicable resolution.
Combs’ attorney, Ben Brafman, did not immediately respond. Brafman previously said Combs strongly denies the allegations.
The lawsuit accuses Combs of introducing Kathy to a fast-paced lifestyle that involved drug use and violent behavior. Kathy claimed that during their relationship, she was subjected to physical abuse, forced drugging, and non-consensual sex.
Kathy also alleged that Combs raped her in 2018 and had been abusive to her since they began dating in 2007.
Combs, a well-known hip-hop producer and executive, denied these allegations. He was praised for his contributions to music, recently released his new album, and was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Ventura, who rose to fame with her hit single “Me & U,” has retracted her previous threat and opted for legal action in an effort to raise awareness about the abuse she claims she suffered. Wigdor praised her courage in taking this step.
