JAMESTOWN — Jamestown University got off to a fast start and it was enough for a 4-2 victory over Hastings College on Saturday, April 20, in the Nelson Family Bubble.
The Jimmies got two batters ahead in the first inning when Kayla Quintanilla singled and scored Trinity Gregg, pushing the lead to 1-0. The Jimmies added two more points in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Jimmies finished the first inning with four hits and three runs allowed.
The home team added one run on a sacrifice fly in the second inning, making it 4-0. That would be the insurance the Jimmies needed to fight back after the Broncos scored a run on Elana Gerhardt’s double in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 4-1. The visiting team added one more point in this inning, narrowing the gap to 4-2.
