Footprints, pets, metal In our latest Metal Insider column, we look at bands who have pets and who watches out for them while they’re on tour. Read on to find out more about metal’s pets. Ivy Garden Pets revealed that they prefer bass-heavy music when they nap.
Tell us more about your pet and its name.
I myself have a dog named Lola, Sebastian has a cat named Chief, Andrew has two dogs, one named Bandit and the other Koda, and we also have a very mischievous cat named Jasmine.
Have you ever traveled with a pet?
No, traveling in small spaces and sweating is too stressful for our pets. We are pretty DIY so we don’t have much space to bring small creatures. Traveling the way we do is very unhealthy for humans, not to mention pets. But on our days off, our pets will enjoy the sights and smells and explore the lakes, parks and public spaces we spend time at along the way.
Who will look after your pets while you travel?
Our family looks after them, and they are all very attached to the home they grew up in.
What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?
My pet would be Lola by the Kinks, hence the name. Not sure about the other pets, but maybe the Halo theme? Kyuss? Sebastian’s cat, Chief, loves the song “Thebes” by OM. Chief is a big fan of bass heavy music that helps him fall asleep.
How did you introduce metal to your pet?
Laura was forced to listen to us play in the basement, which doesn’t have much soundproofing, and judging by her reaction when we went upstairs afterwards, she’s a big fan. The Chief has been listening to industrial music like Swans since he was a kitten.
What animal charity means the most to you?
The local SPCA, which has a lot of stray animals and is often the only one offering any sort of shelter to many of the animals who are born and left behind.
Their own. Thanks!
