BELLEVUE, Wash. — Hyundai is teaming up with local police departments in Western Washington to host an event this weekend to install anti-theft software on vehicles.
The goal is to prevent theft of Hyundai cars.
“I’m glad they did it. I wish they would have done it sooner, but I’m happy for now,” Hyundai owner Harvey Garza said.
Hyundai officials said they will upgrade 2011 Hyundai vehicles to 2021 models with turnkey starting ignition systems. Hyundai released this software update in February last year. Since then, his 1.2 million Hyundai cars in Western Washington have been upgraded. We hope that future roads will become safer.
Hyundai has been working to address a sharp increase in auto thefts involving its vehicles in recent years across the country and here in Washington.
“It’s always in the news that they steal Hyundais and then run into pot shops,” Garza said.
He was just one of many Hyundai car owners who headed to Bellevue’s Factory Mall on Saturday to have the car company install a free anti-theft software update on their cars.
“It’s not that easy. You just put some wires on it or something, or you take a screwdriver and steal it,” Garza said.
He has been driving Hyundais for several years. However, some people are using this type of vehicle for the first time.
Jennifer de Souza said, “I recently got a car, like last week, because I’m a new driver, but I’m generally afraid of it being stolen, because this… Because it’s a car, I’ve heard that some people have it stolen.” simply. “
If you couldn’t make it to Saturday’s event in Bellevue, another event will be held at Factoria Mall near Nordstrom Rack on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., hosted by Hyundai and the Bellevue Police Department.
