Ponderay — Win raffle prizes and go home with a lifelong friend at Better Together Animal Alliance’s adoption events in Ponderay and Sandpoint over the next two weeks.
“We’ll be hosting several adoption events this summer and are excited to help find great homes for our adoptable pets,” said Andrea Nagel, BTAA’s director of storytelling and partnerships.
This Saturday, June 22nd, head over to the BTAA Shelter in Ponderay to enjoy Whiskers and Wags, in partnership with C6-Zero, which turns asphalt shingles into a carbon-negative product.
Meet the many pets eagerly awaiting new homes while learning about the various animal resources available throughout the area.
“This is a family-friendly adoption event and open house with raffles and food trucks,” Nagel said. “We will not be reducing our adoption fees at either event, but because a portion of our long-term pet adoption fees is already funded by the community, that fee will be waived for those looking to adopt. C6-Zero has been a great partner and we are excited to invite the community to this event.”
The event will also feature a raffle and will run from noon to 4 p.m.
Another adoption event and fundraiser will be held at Utara Brewing Company in Sandpoint next Saturday, June 29. This event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m.
Adoptable pets will be coming to the brewery to provide comfort to potential forever families, and activities cost just $10 each to participate in with a chance to win a variety of prizes.
Participate in a contest to guess the breed of the brewery owner’s dog and guess which dog has recently been DNA tested for a chance to win over $700 in additional prizes. The first place winner will receive a Utara Mug Club membership through September 2025, a $200 gift card, and a brewery shirt embroidered with the winner’s name. The second place winner will also receive a membership through September 2025, a $100 gift card, and a custom embroidered brewery shirt. The third place winner will also receive a membership, custom brewery shirt, and a $50 gift card.
According to Nagel, Utara Brewing Co. owners David Kosiba and Christina Stecher are proud supporters of the BTAA and have personally adopted several pets from shelters. They currently live with two dogs and two cats, and were excited to show off their dog DNA test results at the event.
“We are passionate about the mission of Better Together Animal Alliance and the great work they do,” Kociba said. “This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together and support a great cause while having fun.”
All proceeds from the event and fundraiser will go directly to the animal shelter.
