The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning dog owners that their pets may be at risk after treats that may be contaminated with “metal objects” have been recalled.
The voluntary recall announcement, shared on the FDA’s website on Friday, warned dog owners that 3,551 packets of Green Tripe dog treats were being recalled “due to the potential presence of metallic foreign objects.”

The treats, manufactured by Virginia-based TDBBS LLC and sold under the brand names “Barkworthies” and “Best Bully Sticks,” were scheduled to be sold in retail stores nationwide and online from February 2024 through May 2024.
The recall announcement warns that “the possible presence of metal objects may pose a risk to dogs’ health,” but adds that “to date, there have been no reports of pets being injured or made ill from potentially affected products.”
“If you think your dog may have ingested an affected product, you should monitor them for signs of illness. [or] “If you notice any unusual behavior or are concerned, please contact your veterinarian,” the release said.
The recall only applies to these specific lots of treats:
- The Barkworthies brand “Green Tripe” treats come in 7-ounce packages with UPC code “816807015686,” product number “2015686,” lot code “WO151768” or “WO152373” and best-by dates of February and March 2026.
- The Best Bully Stick brand “Green Tripe” treats come in two-pound bags with UPC code “816807016027,” product number “1016027,” lot codes “WO152669,” “WO153321” or “WO152107” and best-by dates ranging from March to August 2026.
- The Best Bully Sticks brand “Green Tripe” treats come in 5-pound bags with UPC code “816807016010,” product number “1016010,” lot codes “WO151401,” “WO152319” or “WO153179” and a best-by date of January-April 2026.
“Anyone who has purchased the affected products is being urged to immediately stop feeding them to their pets and to discard the products. The company said it is “working with distributors and retailers to ensure that the products are no longer sold and are removed from stock.”
Customers were also advised that the recalled treats can be returned and that any questions can be addressed by contacting TDBBS LLC by phone at 877-483-5853, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or by emailing Support@BestBullySticks.com.
At the time of publication, it was unclear what exact type of “foreign metal” may have been in the sweets, or where it came from.

Last month, more than 300 packets of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Veggie Flavor Dry Dog Food sold in four states were recalled after they were found to contain metal fragments.
