BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Best Friends Pet Resource Center in Bentonville will be hosting a Super Adoption Event on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The goal of the event is to find new homes for more than 450 dogs and cats from 30 shelters that were displaced by the recent tornadoes that struck Northwest Arkansas.
Half of the adoption fee is covered by the Leonard and Robert Weintraub Family Foundation, which Best Friends matches to the foundation’s donation, making all adoptions free.
The Super Adoption Event is part of Best Friends Pet Resource Center’s new “The Home Campaign,” according to Mark Peralta, chief program officer for Best Friends Animal Society.
“[The campaign] “Our goal is to help people understand that there are still about 400,000 animals in shelters that are not escaping alive,” Peralta said. “We want people to choose to go to a shelter or adopt instead of buying an animal.”
At the festival, pet owners can also receive advice from animal trainers and the NWA Dog School.
