Ukrainian prosecutors have documented around 130,000 cases of war crimes committed by Russia, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said after the World Peace Summit in Switzerland.
On June 15 and 16, Ukraine hosted a peace summit in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, where more than 90 countries, including European countries, India, Saudi Arabia and South Africa, participated to develop a joint strategy for ending the war with Russia.
“This historic Peace Summit brought together representatives of over 100 countries and organizations with the common goal of restoring and sustaining a just peace. It is an honor for me to take part in the discussions at this summit together with the brave Ukrainian people who have endured war crimes perpetrated by Russia,” Kostin said on social media.
According to the Prosecutor General, as of today, 130,000 war crimes have been recorded in Russia, which is an average of 150 per day. Russia commits a crime against Ukraine and Ukrainians every 10 minutes.
“I sincerely hope that this summit will strengthen the international community’s efforts to stop these atrocities, including by releasing and repatriating Ukrainian civilians illegally held in Russia and preventing the aggressor country from forcibly returning children,” Andriy Kostin added.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called on Peace Summit participants to support the establishment of a special international tribunal for Russia’s crimes of aggression against Ukraine.
