The Kentucky Wildcats opened the season with a big win over the NC State Wolfpack in Omaha. The Wildcats won 5-4 in 10 innings thanks to some crucial extra-base hits. NC State led 4-3 going into the bottom of the ninth before a home run by Ryan Nicholson tied the game. The defense held the Cats to zero runs in the top of the 10th, and a home run by Mitchell Daly in the bottom of the 10th gave the Cats the win.
Kentucky starting pitcher Trey Pooser pitched 6.2 innings and allowed a run in the game, a big accomplishment for the Wildcats as the bullpen only needed to pitch 2.1 innings, meaning the pitchers will be well rested going into their next game against the Texas A&M Aggies.
Texas A&M University beat the Florida Gators to stay in the championship game, and now it’s a matchup between two of the SEC’s powerhouses.
Texas A&M ace Ryan Prager is likely to start for the Aggies. Prager isn’t a left-handed pitcher who can overwhelm hitters, but he can throw strikes, hit the corners and has a good off-speed pitch.
The Wildcats will need another strong offensive performance to win this game, but if they do, Kentucky will have a shot at the lead in the final series.
Let’s take a look at how to watch Kentucky vs Texas A&M in the College World Series.
Kentucky and the Aggies will face off on Monday, the 17th at 7pm ET on ESPN.
